At Dandy Acres, we consider all of our animals our pets. We holistically raise our quality animals for both ourselves and like-minded families. The mineral buffet is used (as seen at mineralbuffet.com).
We felt a calling to create a life we didn’t need to vacation from and finally made it a reality in the Spring of 2019. We have chickens, goats, and sheep. They keep us busy and young. Although our livestock are not registered, many of them are “registerable” and as such are continuing to be quality animals with good traits and excellent companionship, milk, wool, and meat.
As homeschoolers, we remain family centered. Our lifestyle is family and farm focused in order to provide the best hands-on care to human and animal alike.
Does and sheep are fed twice a day a blend of Black Oil Sunflower Seeds, Alfalfa pellets and whole oats. We use garlic, cinnamon and LOH herbs as a prevention and as needed. All of our animals are treated as holistically as possible. The babies all get hands-on attention as frequently as possible. Does are able to 'free range' on our 20 acre fenced property daily, but do have a paddock they get tucked away into every night for safety. Does get a room in the small barn for giving birth and are there for about a week to get acclimated to motherhood before being released back to the herd.
Sheep have a large fenced in area where they can browse. We continue to add space for them for future rotational grazing.
Once all expected babies are on the ground, we will decide who is being retained and who can be sold. Please contact us with any questions.

Parasite Protocol: We focus on prevention with regard to parasite control. Our animals are either rotationally grazing or 'free ranging' through pasture and woods. They are all checked and monitored regularly and receive preventative maintenance such as garlic regularly and cinnamon plus LOH herbs. If there is an additional parasite issue, we are open to chemical deworming, but we have not needed it to date. All our animals have been very healthy.
Vaccination Protocols: No Vaccinations
