Located at the edge of Mohican hill country, Green Iron Ranch is doing it’s best to use regenerative and holistic practices in raising a variety of animals. We started with Icelandic sheep because of their multi purpose use and fell in love with their spunky personalities. We have since expanded into Dexter cattle and this summer will be starting a dairy goat operation with Lamanchas and Nigerian Dwarf goats. We use herbs and excellent minerals for our animals health and rely on the grass and browse from our hilly pastures for their optimal nutrition.
We use herbs and minerals to optimize the health of our animals. We would only use modern medicine if all other methods had been attempted first or if it was an emergency situation and will disclose health history on any available animal. We do not vaccinate at all.
Herbal (1)-Conventional (10) 1-10 Scale: 1
Parasite Protocol: We rotationally graze to help lessen the parasite load. We use herbal dewormers and strategically plant deworming herbs in our pastures. We have only chemically dewormed in very bad years when other practices had been tried. We will also be implementing pastured poultry to help reduce parasite numbers.
Vaccination Protocols: No Vaccinations
