Profile
We have a small yet fun farm here in Hudson Valley. We believe in raising our goats holistically and giving them a chance to survive on a strong immune system. Our herd consists of 1 Sire, 2 Dams, 1 Wether and kids that are currently at the farm.
We feed them timothy and orchard hay. When our Does are in milk they get alfalfa hay, alfalfa pellets, black oil sunflower seeds, beet pulp and oats.
During the summer our goats have available to them dandelions, herbs and mugswort (natural dewormer).
Our goats also receive raspberry leaves at the end of their pregnancy and during their first few months after kidding. All goats that will take it get vitamin c and or rose hips on a daily basis. We don’t force natural products on our goats. We feel if they need it they will eat it, unless we are treating a health issue or medical emergency.
We have a mineral buffet and loose minerals available to the Does and loose minerals available for the Buck and Wether.
We have our Sire on the property sharing the fence line with the Dams and Kids.
We only keep healthy and kind goats. We will not put up with a mean goat and will rehome them. Our kids are handled from the first moment they have arrived and are held and played with. This way they are happy and friendly. However, we always let the Doe raise them and nurse them. This way the kids learn how to be goats.
We do milk share with the kids at day 3 after kidding. What milk we do get for the next 2 days we freeze for future emergencies with kiddings.
Our Does this year (2024) are both FFs and they are amazing moms. They started cleaning and feeding their babies right away and have continued to nurture them.
We do not vaccinate our goats. We do believe in the practice of disbudding or goats. We use herbs and essential oils for their health. However if we do have a goat that has Pneumonia we will treat holistically first but we will use antibiotics as a last resort (a goat can die quickly with Pneumonia so we watch this closely). We have only had to do this once in the last 4 years we have been raising goats.
We do not use or allow sprays or pesticides on our property. We use cedarwood oil to keep back ticks and bugs. We use Diatomaceous Earth, Apple Cider Vinegar and Biochar for management. We only use natural bug sprays.
Our Buck, Does and (Kids will be) are registered with MDGA
We have 3 doelings and 1 buckling that arrived on our farm on February 19 2024.
We will be selling 1 buckling and 1 doeling.
Our goats are used to being raised with our LGD.
