We raise Mini Nubians that thrive on pasture and are low maintenance while still giving a good respectable amount of milk, having udders that are easy to milk and hold up a long time, does with strong maternal instincts, and resistance to parasite overload. We focus on as natural and holistic practices as possible, only resorting to conventional methods if absolutely needed. We don’t want our herd to be heavily adapted to input from us but instead adapted to their environment. We cull animals that do not fit the above profile so that our herd becomes stronger as we grow it.
Our girls and guys are fed alfalfa pellets, free choice quality grass hay, and free choice heavy brush pasture. Those in milk get a mix of whole oats and black oil sunflower seed for carbs and fats. No one else gets grain unless we need to add any weight. They have access to a 20 mineral buffet and are wormed and supplemented with herbals and essential oils.
Herbal (1)-Conventional (10) 1-10 Scale: 2
Parasite Protocol: We use essential oils and herbal wormers as needed. We will offer more during rainy seasons. Kids get herbal cocci treatments once a month. If needed, we will use conventional but find being dedicated with the herbals and allowing them to free range brush keeps them clean for the most part.
Vaccination Protocols: No Vaccinations
