Profile
Here at our small ranch in the Missouri Ozarks, we raise Heritage breeds of livestock. We have differing varieties of Brahma chickens, and lavender guineas. We also breed our English Shepherds on occasion, and have a crop of Nubian goat kids each spring/summer.
Our Nubian goats are all ADGA registered, and we raise only Purebreds, no American’s.
We use little to no chemicals and antibiotics, including dewormers.
In our little herd (Kiddin’ Around Nubians/KAN’s), we strive for healthy, sturdy animals with good milking ability and all the traits Nubians are known for. Our herd is mostly built on our Prairie Fruits foundation doe, and also contains Alize, Saada, Hoanbu, Ages Ago Acres, & Terrell Creek lineage. We seek to maintain a good mothering instinct (except for one doe who is a family favorite so she gets a pass) so leave our kids on their dams for the first few days until colostrum clears.
Our fall 2023 kidding plans are to pair 10 does with Camelot Cattle Co Ruben, for March-May kiddings. Contact us to be put on the waiting list, we do not take any deposits until kids are on the ground and we know what we have and what we want to retain/is already spoken for.
Our 2023 does to be bred include:
Prairie Fruits Farm Lexi
Ages Ago Acres Go Ask Alice
KAN’s Sunshine Over the Mesa
KAN’s Sunbeam Comanche Callie
The KAN’s Cinnamon Roll
The KAN’s XXL Pecan Pie
Ages Ago Acres Rebecca Lynn
Ages Ago Acres Whoa, Betsie
Ages Ago Acres She’s Got Style
The KAN’s Best Invention
We have plans for a fall 2023 English Shepherd litter, visit website for details.
Farm Management
We practice the Pat Coleby version of mineral supplementation and have free choice Sulfur, Real Salt, Copper sulfate, Baking soda and dolomite, as well as a specially formulated mineral mix available free choice. Our goats also get BoSe spring and fall. We do disbud our goats, as we have had a bad experience including an eyeball and horn accident in the past. We give our goats NO vaccines, and buy only from clean herds to maintain our herd health. We also have culled any we thought were less sturdy.
Parasite Protocol:
We have copper sulfate available free choice, and only give chemical wormers in extreme cases (only in our experience, once we moved to MO and encountered Barber Pole.)
Vaccination Protocols: No Vaccinations
