Profile
We are blessed to be the second generation on our small family farm. As stewards of the land and the animals entrusted to our care we strive to raise our livestock holistically in a pastured and organic setting. We do not use pesticides or herbicides on our farm, we control weeds by mowing and chopping. Our livestock graze and browse on our 40 acres and we produce all of our own hay for winter.
We continually choose quality over quantity. As we focus our individual breeding programs on structure, temperament and production with minimal inputs. Our Dexter herd is closed and was last tested in 2021. Our Nigerians are tested annually for CAE, CL and Johnes.
We have a small select registered herd of Dexter cattle that are grass fed and finished with their only supplementation being quality loose mineral and salt. We proudly offer grass fed and finished whole and half beef as well as the occasional exceptional replacement bull or heifer. Our cattle are unvaccinated and only our replacement bulls or heifers are traditionally dewormed upon request. We do steer our bulls intended for processing.
Our farm is home to a tiny herd of tiny goats! Nigerian Dwarfs are the newest additions to our farm and we are head over heals for these happy little kids! Our little herd is currently transitioning to holistic and natural management as we use herbals and essential oils for parasite control. Our goats browse on pasture most months of the year and get ample exercise as they free range the farm under our close watch. We have planned for our first kids to begin arriving in the spring of 2023!
Our standard poodles are the heart of our farm as our dogs are certified therapy and service dogs. All of our dogs are health tested to CHIC requirements and hold multiple AKC titles. Our puppies are raised in our home using Puppy Culture as the basis for their curriculum during the 10-12 weeks that they are with us. Though we would prefer not to vaccinate, as working therapy and service dogs, it is required by the certifying agencies as well as our local laws. We highly recommend not vaccinating, but if it is required, we suggest following Dr. Dodds protocol.
Farm Management
We only use traditional medical practices when the life of an animal is dependent upon it or as requested by a buyer at the time of sale, after required vet exam and fecal evaluation.
We have utilized AI services to bring in new bloodlines and to preserve our current herd sire.
We do not:
Dock tails
Remove dewclaws
Dehorn cattle
Parasite Protocol:
We treat for parasites after a fecal examination has been completed by our veterinarian. Our first line of treatment is herbals or essential oils. We only use traditional dewormers when absolutely necessary. Our goats receive herbals on a weekly basis.
Vaccination Protocols: No Vaccinations
