We are a modern homesteading family living our lives for the glory of Jesus Christ, while intentionally becoming more self-sustainable and resilient in today’s fast-paced world. Homesteading to us means slowing down and watching things grow, and observing how God does things in creation and learning how to apply God’s Word and His design to every facet of our lives.
We specialize in English Heritage Buff Orpingtons and we breed for common purposes in self-sustainability and resilience within the local food supply. We purposefully put the health of our family and animals as a top priority and therefore use holistic and natural methods towards disease and illness prevention. We do not vaccinate or use any pharmaceuticals or herbicides/pesticides/fungicides for any of our homestead. We also know that God does answer prayer, so we regularly pray for all that we have been entrusted with on our homestead.

About 10 years ago, our family began a journey to get back to the natural ways of God - the ways of old. This journey led us to a decision to raise our own food so that we would no longer be limited to just what was available to us through our local food supply. We desired food that was grown in a more natural way (like God intended). We raise our flocks naturally and holistically (without vaccines and pharmaceuticals). We chose the Orpington breed which are a heritage breed. They have been around a long time and breed true, unlike a hybrid. They naturally have excellent disease resistance which make it easy to maintain holistic, natural preventatives for illness. Our homestead provides all-natural and herbal remedies for prevention and treatment of illness. We provide our birds with a certified organic feed from a local mill which we ferment. The fermentation process offers the birds a more nutrient-dense, bio-available food source that also increases the bird's own natural immune defense against disease and illness. We take bio-security very seriously and our birds are kept free from predators on a deep-bedding of organic materials that they forage and turn into compost. We appreciate all that our birds offer to us and we do our best to keep them healthy so that, in turn, they will keep us healthy also!

Parasite Protocol: We believe in the wisdom of, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." We routinely provide an all- natural electrolyte solution to our birds which contains Apple Cider Vinegar, Garlic, Honey and Redmond Real Salt. We also have varying species of animals including dogs, chickens and guinea fowl on our homestead. These practices help to keep the parasite load naturally manageable within the eco-system of our homestead. Our future plans are to continue to diversify the parasite load on our homestead with additional varying species of animals, with the hopes of adding rabbits soon.
