Sunday, 3 yr old ADGA American Alpine -$500
Pedigree: https://genetics.adga.org/PedigreePrint.aspx?RegNumber=A002348491
If you are looking for dairy quality, Sunday is your girl! She peaked at approx 1.5 gallons per day as a first freshener. I have her on extended lactation, and she’s currently producing 3/4 gal a day on once a day milking, at almost 17 months fresh.
She’s electric fence trained, gentle, easy to handle, her udder is easy to milk, and she has good milk stand manners. She kidded unassisted, and is a good mother. She has no history of mastitis. She did freshen with a lopsided udder, but that is just a quirk she inherited from her mother, not the result of infection. With good management, her udder will even out over subsequent freshenings – it is already more even now than it was when she first freshened. Sunday can be bred this year, or you could milk her through another year.
Gracie, Yearling ADGA Experimental -$300
Pedigree: https://genetics.adga.org/PedigreePrint.aspx?RegNumber=E002348669
Gracie is Sunday’s daughter. She is going through an awkward growth phase right now, but she is one of the best kids I’ve ever raised. She has needed almost no interventions, and has proven very hardy, healthy, and parasite resistant. Her sire’s dam and sire’s twin sister both exhibited nice udder texture, good attachments, and the sister milked approximately a gallon a day for me this year.
Gracie has the genetics to be a healthy, productive, dependable milker with her hybrid vigor.
Gracie is ready to be bred as soon as she starts her heat cycle.
These two are deeply attached to each other, and I would love for them to stay together if possible. I will offer a package deal if you are interested in both. I would prefer that they go to a home experienced in managing high production dairy goats.
All of my goats have either tested clear of CAE, CL, and Johnes, or are the offspring of tested parents. All are holistically managed, used to grazing and browsing on the land in electric fences, and on the Free Choice Enterprises Mineral Buffet system, along with supplemental hay and feed as needed to maintain body condition and milk supply. They receive no vaccines or chemical dewormers. All are gentle and used to being handled and moved routinely. If you would like to have any biosecurity testing done before bringing them to your farm, I am happy to work with you on that!
